We are a medium-sized producer of building protection and road construction products that are sold internationally. In Germany, we supply the building materials trade and roofing wholesalers with "BORNIT®" brand waterproofing products. With our brand quality, we are also a reliable partner for a large number of national and international private label customers.

Originating from the "Zwickauer Dachpappen- und Asphaltfabrik" (founded in 1868 by Alwin Aschenborn), we have developed over 5 family generations into a modern industrial company.
In 1972, the private company was nationalised in the former GDR and renamed "VEB Bitumen-Chemie Zwickau". We were then one of the first East German companies, after the political change in 1990, to be reprivatised and to dare a new start in the reunified Germany.

Through a strong team spirit, trust in the location and extensive investments in production facilities, logistics, sales structures and employees, we developed into a modern manufacturer of construction chemicals products and have been a member of the VCI industry association "Deutsche Bauchemie e.V."  (www.deutsche-bauchemie.com ) for many years.

Together with our sales partners, we want to achieve a nationwide presence for the BORNIT® brand and use and constantly expand our extensive expertise for innovative application solutions and new product developments. The Group's participation in Basalt-Actien-Gesellschaft  (www.basalt.de/en ), one of the German market leaders in natural stone quarrying and asphalt production, gives us stability in the financial and organisational areas and ensures a high level of expertise in the bitumen sector.
